Sabrina Carpenter Narrowly Avoids Being Hit by Firework During San Francisco Concert
View Date:2024-12-23 12:15:23
Good thing Sabrina Carpenter has good judgment—because she narrowly avoided a big injury.
During her performance at San Francisco's Outside Lands festival Aug. 10, the “Please Please Please” singer had a close encounter with her set’s pyrotechnics.
In a video shared by a fan account to X, formerly Twitter, Sabrina quickly jumped down from a platform, spooked by fireworks exploding. Although her band and other crew members remained unphased, the 24-year-old screamed and stumbled across the stage as she looked back at the flares and covered her mouth.
And while the light show had Sabrina feeling thrown, she was able to move past the nonsense, and reflected fondly on the performance—which also featured a surprise appearance from Kacey Musgraves to sing “These Boots are Made For Walkin’” by Nancy Sinatra—on social media.
“Thank you to everyone who came,” Sabrina wrote in a Aug. 11 Instagram post. “Special thank you to the angel that is @spaceykacey for coming out to sing and dance to Nancy Sinatra with me. And thank you to my whole team and crew. all the talented people who made this show happen on and off stage, i love you all so much.”
Sabrina’s Outside Lands performance will be her last until she releases her upcoming album, Short n’ Sweet on Aug. 23. And she isn’t holding back her excitement on ringing in the new era of her music—which has already included a music video featuring her boyfriend Barry Keoghan and her first Billboard No. 1 hit for her single “Please Please Please.”
“I’m so happy I finished this album before any of the songs came out,” she told Variety in an article published Aug. 6 of her recent successes. “I really do think sometimes you can’t help but write from a different perspective after experiencing certain life events. I’m trying to avoid calling this ‘my dream album,’ because I don’t think I would have been able to dream up this set of songs a couple years ago.”
Of the dream that Sabrina’s wildest imagination could not even muster includes extra support from her friend Taylor Swift, who congratulated the six-time 2024 VMA nominee for selling out her upcoming tour.
“SUMMER OF SABRINA,” Taylor wrote under one of Sabrina’s recent Instagram posts. “AND MAY IT CONTINUE FOREVER.”
